By now I am sure you must have guessed the theme of this post. “Ethnic Wear”
Ethnic wear has always lured me towards it time and again. Recently I shot a few ethnic wear looks for Priti Sahni Designs, a beautiful brand known for its Indian craft and hand embroideries. It was a refreshing change to my usual western wear dressing especially since India has been known to have a rich and diverse history, it’s certain that there shouldn’t be any monotony or mechanical elements to dressing up.
Each of the three outfits I have chosen transported me to a different place and time. For look 1, based on the colour palette, Jari print and the cuts of this lehenga and choli, I decided to go for a Mughal look. The idea was to create an image of a girl wandering in the modern times with her core values having roots in the cultural past trying to establish an identity of her own. . . . Mix of thread, sequin and pearl work have emblazoned the lehenga.
Ethnic wear, especially sarees, look so much versatile and charming that they can make any women look beautiful. No matter what kind of event or occasion you attend, a beautiful piece of saree coordinated with the right kind of accessories can make you look elegant. Sarees are lightweight, easy to carry and looks good on every silhouette. I am wearing this elegant net saree in a pastel shade designed by the very talented Priti Sahni. The mirror work on the blouse reflects a perfect amalgam of ethnic style and modern design.
In contrast to the first look, I chose a very vibrant and larger than life lehenga for my third look. This lehenga has everything a modern day bride would wish for, may it be the Big flared skirt, long flowing drapes, vibrant colour and heavy embellishments in pure gold thread. The blouse is beautifully embroidered with heavy patterns and designs to make her perfect day even more special. . With wedding season right around the corner, Priti Sahni Designs is the right place to find the perfect outfit that will make you dazzle on your special day. Whether you are looking for something simple, something extravagant or something utterly glamorous, Priti Sahni Designs has it all and the important part is that they also customise it as per your needs.
Jewellery is the most essential part of your ethnic wear look but the biggest mistake women do is overdoing it. Balance your accessories and wear just enough. Don’t wear less but don’t wear too many. While you track the trends and plan to adopt some, keep in mind what suits you according to your body type.
Priti operates from her design studio in Mumbai and also serves clients across India and overseas. At Priti Sahni Designs, they have a variety of designer sarees and lehengas suited to the expectations of modern day women.
